(NB ARTICLE EDITED, AND SOFTWARE LINK REMOVED 03/04/09 – FOLLOWING CAMTASIA’S WITHDRAWAL OF FREE OFFER. MY E-BOOK OFFER IS STILL AVAILABLE. REST OF ARTICLE RETAINED FOR ARCHIVE PURPOSES. SEE MY ENTRY IN THE COMMENTS SECTION FOR AN ALTERNATIVE FREE RESOURCE – DAVID)
If you’ve ever seen any training, or “how to”, videos of the “screen capture” type (where you appear to be watching someone else’s computer screen) the chances are that it was recorded on Camtasia software, produced by TechSmith.
Making a Camtasia video can be an easy way of producing your own product or an added value bonus for your main product, but you may be put off by the price – the current version retails at $299. However, you may not know that a less sophisticated, but perfectly adequate, version is available at no cost.
I was reminded of the free version yesterday, when I was browsing through 50 products for which I had just bought the resell rights. These products include an e-book of “60 Camtasia Tutorials and Resources Free for the Taking”.
Having checked the licence, I am delighted to let you know that I am able to give it away, and so that is exactly what I am going to do – give it away to you.
So with the Camtasia software (free, courtesy of TechSmith) and the e-book “60 Camtasia Tutorials…” (free, with my compliments), you now have a major resource, which you can add to your armoury for your online business. Here is how you can get them:
Enjoy.

Posted 05 Dec 2008 at 12:33 pm ¶I have only just started in the Internet and have built my website. I am still having problems with it concerning error page and success page but the rest seems to work. I know it needs improvement and I am building more pages. I have been studying all processes for months and I am passing help onto others around me. I am a Pensioner and I need to strengthen my pension. Not only this but I love to learn and I miss working for myself. This is a very good way to keep the brain active, also it keeps me out of mischief. LOL. Thank you oncce again for the support you offer. Carry on the good work and I wish you all that you wish for yourself. JJB>
Hello Jennifer,
I’m glad you appreciated the Camtasia resources. With the 60 tutorials to keep you busy, the world should be safe from your mischief for a while longer!
Full marks for your attitude. We all start from the same place and there’s always a lot more we can learn, but learn and apply, learn and apply… and we get there.
I wish you well for your website and your business.

Posted 13 Dec 2008 at 12:10 pm ¶Hi, I had planned to download Camtasia Studio and learn to use. The ebook with all the Camtasia video tutorials is just what I need.
I downloaded the software and watched the videos that came up after installation. I will begin to play with the software as I watch the other videos.
Thanks so much.

Thanks for taking the time to comment on this article. Also good to see what you look like – from your gravatar – and a nice change to see somebody else’s photo and not mine!
I wish you well with your various ventures,
David
PS Have corrected your url (per your separate e-mail).

Hi David. Thanks for the free download of Camtasia studio 3. I have a question. I have download the software but noticed that the default option was for a 30day free trial or registration of a key. I tried to register the product as per the instruction at the back of the e-book but was unsucessful so I downloaded the 30 day free trial.
Have I missed something as I thought the download was completely free for good. Is this correct or have a made a mistake. Sorry for being difficult.
Regards

Hello Linda,
Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
Having visited Camtasia’s website, it looks as though they’ve pulled the plug on the free offer, I’m afraid – it seems the free download was too popular. I suppose I’m at least partly responsible for that by promoting it!
So yes, with Camtasia it looks as though you can only get a 30 day free trial now.
If you’re only interested in a free product, you might want to take a look at:
http://camstudio.org
Look for the red “Download Links” section about half-way down the page.
I can’t say that I’ve used it extensively, but on a trial run it seemed to have a similar feel to Camtasia. Once you’ve opened the program up, you’ll have to click on the help button to access the tutorial.
I’m not sure whether the free Camtasia tutorials will still help or not.
So, I’m sorry, Linda, it looks as though you have missed the boat. Apart from that, I hope everything is okay with you – it’s a while since we’ve been in touch – it was good to hear from you again.
David
