Bloggers around the world will be switching on their pcs today to find that they have a gap in their lives, and a gap on their blogs. Blogrush is no more. Where the familiar widget used to appear in the sidebar of blogs, including my own, there is just an empty space.
Designed on the traffic exchange principle (a visit to your blog by a visitor earns a display of your latest blog headline on someone else’s blog), Blogrush has shut down. Never designed to make money, it has paid the ultimate price.
One by one the gaps on blogs left by the widget will be filled with other content. When the final gap is filled Blogrush, like many a loss making internet service before it, will be consigned to web history. A salutory lesson for us all.
